Nelson Kennels is a third generation dog training and boarding business located in Los Banos, California. Grandpa Norm Nelson established the business in 1969. He built the kennels, grooming shop, bird coops, barn, stalls, and pasture with his family. He taught his daughter Linda Azevedo and grandson Scott Azevedo how to train and handle dogs. They specialize in training pointing breeds for the hunting sport of "field trialing".
In 2012 Deanna Azevedo (nee Beals) joined the family and moved her Beals Horsemanship business into the home of Nelson Kennels. She brought with her an expertise in horses, but also academic training in animal sciences. She has an A.S. from Feather River College in Horse Training, a B.S. from UC Davis in Animal Behavior, and she is currently finishing her M.S. from CSU Stanislaus in Communicating Biological Sciences. She specializes in working with riders and their gaited horses.
